Forced out

In addition to my two young sons, I am also responsible for my aging parents. And this is good. I saw my grandparents take care of their parents, I saw my parents care for their parents, and now it is our turn.

What I'm really getting an education on is healthcare after you retire. The company my dad worked for has offered a resonable health insurance plan for a number of years. This year however, the plan costs went up drastically and I have had to scramble around for something they can afford.

Here are my two nuggets if you find yourself in a similar situation:
  1. If you are fortunate enough to live in the Fort Worth, Texas area, there is a healthplan that was started by a local group of doctors call Care and Care . This is what I signed my parents up for. Looks good for now and they can afford it. I'll let you know as time goes on.
  2. The other option I would have used is Secure Horizons. I have talked with several people who have are getting their health coverage thru them and would recommend it.
Thats all for today. I'll let know know how experience tracks against their promises.
